  • Mix a surf lesson at dawn + Uluwatu Kecak sunset + beach club sundowner at Potato Head or Ku De Ta — that's a near-perfect Legian day.
  • The Jimbaran seafood dinner on the sand at sunset is a Bali essential. One of the true iconic experiences on the island.
  • Book at least two side-street spa sessions — the value vs. a hotel spa is night and day. Budget R77–R137 for bliss.
  • For Tanah Lot: hire a private driver for the group and split — far cheaper and more flexible than a guided tour.

Cash is king in Bali. Get IDR at airport ATMs on arrival or at BCA/BNI/Mandiri ATMs in town. Never use beach money changers — they are routinely dishonest. Most beach spas, markets and temple entries are cash only.

Download Grab before you fly. It's Bali's Uber — honest prices, no negotiating, no getting ripped off. Set it up at home and link a card so you're ready on arrival. A must.

Temple dress code: Shoulders and knees must be covered at all temples. Sarongs are provided at most sites for free or a small IDR 15,000 rental fee. It's non-negotiable — guards will stop you at the gate.

WhatsApp runs Bali. All local tour operators, drivers and restaurants communicate via WhatsApp. Save numbers as you go — it's the easiest way to confirm bookings and negotiate prices.
🛍️
Bargaining at markets is expected. Start at 30–40% of the opening price and work from there — it's fun, not rude. Never bargain at restaurants with printed menus or branded retail.

Never drink tap water. Buy large 5L water jugs at the nearest 7-Eleven for around IDR 5,000 (±R5) — much cheaper than individual bottles. Refill from your hotel water station where possible.

Tipping: Not mandatory but appreciated. IDR 20,000–50,000 (R18–R45) per person is generous for masseuses, private drivers and tour guides. It makes a real difference to their income.

May = perfect weather. Start of Bali's dry season — 28–32°C, low humidity, minimal rain. One of the best months to visit. Pack sunscreen (reef-safe is preferred near the ocean), light cotton and a thin layer for the evenings in Ubud.
